In sessions run by our instructors and physiotherapists, both gentle and challenging movements allow you to experience spinal decompression with zero gravity yoga–namely by using inversions, or hanging “upside down,” as one of many movements in the class. Relax your body and mind while improving flexibility and lengthening your muscles.

Benefits of Aerial Yoga

Align Your Spine

Inversions are an integral part of aerial yoga. They allow the spine to decompress, giving more space to the nerves in the spinal column.

Release Serotonin

Aerial yoga helps release endorphins and serotonin, a.k.a. the “happy hormones,” that improve mood and can help ease anxiety and depression.

Improve Body Awareness

A regular yoga practice can help you develop greater kinesthetic awareness and get in touch with your body. This leads to improved balance.

Getting Ready to Fly

Building your personalised yoga plan

1

Learn the Basics

The philosophies of AntiGravity Yoga include levity, opening up, being free, and the pursuit of awareness and excellence. Fun is more important than perfection. One’s true wealth is their health. Move it or lose it. AntiGravity techniques are anti-aging in nature. However, the primary philosophy is presence.

2

Build Your Plan

You can easily incorporate aerial yoga into your regular exercise plan as it aligns with your goals and lifestyle. During each hour-long class, you’ll move, stretch, and use the hammock measured specifically to your height. You will move through a series of yoga-based moves, such as Sun Salutations and Airplane Sequence. You’ll be able to enjoy inversions even in the first class!

3

Enjoy the Results

You’ll start feeling the benefits of aerial yoga almost immediately. Most students leave their first session feeling more relaxed. The benefits will compound with regular practice. The more you practice AntiGravity yoga, the more you’ll be able to access deeper stretches and experience regular release.

Frequently Asked Questions

When was AntiGravity aerial yoga created?

Christopher Harrison is the Founder and Artistic Director of the international entertainment and fitness brand AntiGravity Inc., established in 1991. A competitive diver, trampolinist and gymnast, Mr Harrison is also a survivor of stage three Lymes disease. His Aerial Design choreography work on Broadway has expanded to include AntiGravity® Boots, Suspension Fitness and Aerial Yoga.

You may have seen Singer/Artist Pink perform her Grammy Award performance in the Harrison AntiGravity® Hammock, as well as Mariah Carey flying for her ‘Charmbracelet’ Tour, and 50 Cent’s dance crew perform around him in the Hammocks.

What if it's my first time doing yoga?

All levels are welcome at our studio for aerial yoga in Leederville. Exercises can be modified based on your abilities.

Who teaches the classes?

All of our courses are taught by certified physiotherapists and instructors.

What can I expect during my first session?

Each class is an hour long. Your instructor will guide you through each pose to ensure you complete the exercises safely and experience gentle release. You’ll move, stretch, hang, and swing in your very own hammock measured to your height. Even in your first class, you’ll be able to enjoy going upside down with inversions.

Is it safe?

Our classes are run by physiotherapists, and safety always comes first. This is one of the philosophies of the technique. You can trust the fact that each piece of the Harrison AntiGravity® Hammock is rated for sustaining well over 450 kgs. The flying fabric is made of a fabric that only stretches in one direction, allowing your movement to stretch and expand but holding you safely as well.
